We primarily coordinate meetings for international professionals participating in the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). In partnership with National Program Agencies in Washington, D.C., Global Ties San Francisco arranges meetings on topics that address each program’s unique goals and objectives as outlined by the U.S. Department of State.
IVLP participants are selected by U.S. Foreign Service Officers at embassies and consulates around the world. Participation is by nomination only, reserved for individuals recognized as influential leaders driving innovation and positive change in their communities. Our organization offers local professionals the opportunity to meet with these changemakers to engage in conversations that inspire progress across industries and borders.

From informal discussions to formal presentations, a wide variety of meeting formats are possible. We encourage interactive site visits and hands-on experiences, fostering meaningful two-way conversations that promote knowledge sharing and mutual learning.
Visitors either speak English or are accompanied by interpreters.
Typically, participants visit three to four U.S. cities for a few days each during their three-week exchange program and have up to three meetings per day.
Professionals range from Members of Parliament to educators and everything in between. More than 225,000 International Visitors have engaged with Americans through the IVLP since its founding in 1940, including more than 500 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government and thousands of cabinet-level ministers.
