Intern Spotlight: Leila Shawrieh

Leila Shawrieh, currently studying history and political science at Westmont College, is one of our International Programs interns this summer.

During her internship, she is eager to gain firsthand experience in Citizen Diplomacy through inbound international exchange programs and to expand her knowledge of international relations and the nonprofit sector.

Leila has actively pursued diverse cultural opportunities throughout her academic career. In 2023, she spent a semester studying conflict and peacemaking across Europe. Enriching experiences — from exploring England, spending time with horses in Northern Ireland, and hiking through the High Tatras mountains in Slovakia, to engaging in insightful conversations with her German host family — deepened her appreciation for learning through cross-cultural interactions.

In her free time, she enjoys embroidery, reading, and journaling, often with a warm cup of tea in hand.
