Meet our Fall 2026 Intern!
Meet our International Programs intern Patrick Oliver, a recent graduate of San Francisco State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations with a minor in Middle East and Islamic Studies.
With an academic focus on diplomacy and peacemaking and a passion for cross-cultural connection, he hopes to help foster lasting ties between the United States and international delegations.
Patrick’s interests in international affairs and interpersonal connection motivated him to study abroad in Spain, where he stayed with a host family and shared conversations with students from around the world. Later, he explored these interests further in his undergraduate thesis, which analyzed how discourse and shared cultural beliefs can influence conflict escalation and de-escalation among states in the Middle East.
“I believe that the global community is strengthened through interpersonal connection and cross-cultural communication, and I am excited to work with Global Ties San Francisco to advance these goals.”
In his free time, Patrick enjoys birding, creating art, and exploring the city with friends. He joins the Global Ties San Francisco team eager to build connections and further develop his understanding of international diplomacy.
Welcome to the intern team, Patrick!
